Carnival Ball 2012 and our Cause
About 75% of all profit raised at The Brazilian Carnival Ball was offered to the American Women ́s Club (AWC) Scholarship Program.
This means that 300 thousand Thai Baht have been destined to supporting education to about 50 underprivileged girls in rural areas of Thailand.
The AWC Scholarship Program has been active since 1995 sponsoring over 350 students each academic year only in Thailand.
Even though Thai schools no longer charge tuition in public schools, studying still incur in some fees and students need funds to pay for lunch, uniforms, school supplies, extra-curriculum classes, and transportation. These expenses add up to about 6,000 Thai Baht per year that most rice farmers cannot afford with their average of 25,000 baht (US$700) yearly income forcing many girls to stop studying specially if the family has to support other kids.
ABT has then joint forces with AWC and managed to support 50 students for the 2012-2013 academic year through the funds collected with the Carnival Ball event in 2012.
Education is “the gift that never ends” and ABT is grateful to all corporate sponsors, party guests and community members that contributed to this charitable cause.

The Scholaship Annual News 2012 - by AWC
In March of this year, the Association of Brazilians in Thailand (ABT) notified the AWC Scholarship Program that they selected our program as the beneficiary of their 2012 Brazilian Carnival Ball. At the Carnival Ball on May 26th, the ABT presented Nancy Morin, AWC Scholarship Chairwoman, with an astounding donation of 300,000 baht to fund 50 sponsorships. We thank the ABT from the bottom of our hearts to help us improve underprivileged Thai girl’s lives by providing the gift of education. It is gratifying to know that the ABT shares our belief that giving an education, not only helps one student, but
also helps her entire community. We thank both Fabian Cavalcanti and Naira Martoli Rempel and their team for all the hard work and support to make this possible. We’re pleased to announce that 5 members of the Brazilian Association will be joining us as volunteers at English Camp. Obrigado!
